Hosted by the NZ Association for Environmental Education, Seaweek focuses on learning from the sea. It’s about exciting and inspiring all New Zealanders to renew their connections with the sea! Not just for children or those involved with formal education – it’s a time for all of us to get to know our ocean, its habitats, characteristics and inhabitants better.
Seaweek comprises a wide range of events, activities, opportunities, competitions and calls to action.

Take part in the Marine Metre Squared project and monitor your patch of coastline as part of a nationwide project, which will be launched during Seaweek 2013 - get involved now so you can be part of it for the launch! More details here.

Learn About and Adopt an Argo Data Float - Argo Floats are a very cool technology that measures temperature and salinity in our oceans. We need this information to help us with climate, weather, and ocean research. They are being used in the Southern Ocean on the Our Far South expedition. Click here to find out more.

NZAEE (the New Zealand Association for Environmental Education) is a national, non-profit organisation that promotes and supports lifelong learning and encourages behaviour that lead to sustainability for New Zealand/Aotearoa. NZAEE is an independent voice for environmental education, empowering people to respect and nurture the environment, recognising its link with the social, cultural and economic aspects of sustainability.
Seaweek is NZAEE’s annual, national flagship event. It is run through NZAEE members and volunteers with support from a wide range of individuals, groups and
organisations. Originally run by the Marine Education Society of Australasia (now part of NZAEE), it was first held in New Zealand in 1992.
Seaweek is funded entirely through sponsorship and in-kind support.
