Join Mount Maunganui Underwater Club clean up with divers collecting rubbish from the seabed between Salisbury Wharf and Mount Boat Ramp to educate about our impact on the Marine Environment.

Marine Presentation by Al Fleming Central North Island Field Officer for Forest and Bird

Forest and Bird Gisborne Branch Meeting. PUBLIC WELCOME! Gold coin donation at the door appreciated.  Alan Fleming has worked with marine mammals (research strandings and tourism), and within marine reserves (dive guide /research, DoC ranger at the Poor Knights Islands Marine Reserve, Whangarei Harbour Marine Reserve and the Mimiwhangata Marine Park).  He will talk about the Poor Knights Islands marine ecosystems, Forest and Bird's marine reserve campaign and marine protected areas of the East Coast.

Seaweek Seabird Cruise

Saturday March 13, 10am

Price: Tickets are $40.

Wildlife enthusiasts have a chance to cruise off the Bay of Plenty coastline to observe oceanic seabirds and other wildlife as part of Seaweek. The cruise is being run by South Sea Sailing and includes a special commentary provided by local seabird expert Tony Crocker. "We expect to see a range of magnificent seabirds", said Tony. "Various shearwaters, petrels, prions and storm petrels are commonly sighted on the water, and there is a chance we will be visited by an albatross, which would be a highlight".
