Students' Sea Week Art Competition
Base your entries on Seaweek theme "One Ocean - it starts with
me", celebrating actions students
have taken during Seaweek
to care for Northland's
marine environment.
Winning entries will be exhibited in Whangarei and on Northland Regional
Council's website. Created by a group or an individual, winning entries go into
a mystery prize draw. All entries receive a participation certificate. with
winners! Open to all Northland school students with three separate entry
categories
Application deadline: 4pm,Friday 14 March (week six, term
one)

Little blue penguins
The blue penguin, or korora is the Seaweek 2008 mascot. Find out about
the penguins, the threats they face and ways we can help to look after them
through a new interactive game:
Penguin Pathways - Plight of the Little Blue.

Developed by the NZ Marine Studies Centre,
Penguin Pathways is an
excellent starter activity for student investigations, group and class
discussion and hands on activities. The game has been designed with Otago
schools in mind, but can easily be adapted by using examples from your local
area for follow up discussion. Click on the Education & Resources link of the
