0800 IN THE BIN

0800 In The Bin

Is an Auckland Council initiative to help prevent littering on our roads. Ring 0800 InTheBin, text 022 INTHEBIN or email if you see anyone throw rubbish out of their car. Be ready with their car registration, time, location and type of rubbish. The offender can be sent a letter of warning or a $100 fine. Most rubbish from our roads ends up down the stormwater drains that go straight into our streams and harbour.
Sending a letter to let others know that littering is unacceptable is a good thing, hopefully leading some to think twice about these type of actions. Maybe other Councils might like to think of a similar initiative for their area.
