Buy tickets online
Get tickets by Wed 6 March and go in the draw for a $150 voucher from Styx restaurant!
This is a great event for the family – although very young ones would need to be carried. We take you from Wakefield Quay by bus to the end of Boulder Bank Drive, you walk the 9 km back to the Cut, and we bring you back by boat. Along the way you can go by the baches (owners have been known to offer you a cuppa and give you a peek inside), go up to the top of the lighthouse, listen to speakers on the history of ‘the Bank’ and see Nelson from a different perspective. We also have a barbecue going at the lighthouse so you don’t get too hungry–be sure to bring some cash to buy something to eat.
The walk is sponsored once again by Knapps Lawyers and TSB Bank, Nelson, and we welcome Stoke Garden & Landscapes as a new silver sponsor.
Buses depart from Guyton’s carpark on Wakefield Quay at 8:15, 9:00 and 9:45 am. The “boat-both-ways” option is available at 10:45 and 11:15. Some tickets will likely be available on the day, but best to get tickets in advance to get the departure time you want. In any case, please arrive at least 10 minutes prior, and allow extra time if parking your car (Guyton’s carpark is P120, so not suitable).
Tickets are $26 for adults, $16 for children (under 14). Tickets for Boat-Both-Ways option are $31 and $19. Tickets are available online at:
Tickets can also be purchased at TSB Bank, Trafalgar St, Nelson.
We sometimes have a few tickets available on the day of the walk. Be sure to bring sunscreen, a parka, sturdy shoes, water bottle and a hat.
In the event of bad weather, the postponement date is 17 March. Refunds will be available for ticketholders who cannot attend on that date.
Thursday 28 February 2019.

Friday 8 March 2019, 7 – 8pm at Theatre Royal Nelson, 78 Rutherford Street, Nelson.
Extremely Fun Environmental Education Science Show for Seaweek 2019.
Science for children and adults and professional development for teachers. Increasing awareness of the state of our oceans, and some fun science, plenty of action, laughter and audience participation.
Sterling Cathman is a primary teacher working in schools nationally to increase knowledge and raise the awareness of science and technology for teachers and the children of tomorrow. He is joined by Richard de Hamel, the marine educator from Otago University.
Our emphasis is on fun, engagement and environmental sustainability. This is achieved through exciting shows and ongoing support for teachers and schools. Cross-curricular materials are shared with schools to make it easier for teachers to teach science/technology. Topics will be:
1) Plastics and how they influence our oceans.
2) Seas warming up and levels rising.
3) Ocean acidification.
4) Climate variables.
5) Managing natural resources.
6) Sustainable fishing.
7) Gases (CO2, ozone).
8) Marine life.
10) Seafood production
